Crafting for the holidays- it’s a compulsory thing for makers! That unmistakable urge to lovingly craft gifts with your own two hands- the itch starts earlier and earlier every year, doesn’t it?
I’ve always loved those sequin and bead decorated fabric ornaments from the Seventies. I remember trying to recreate those magical orbs that a neighbor lady gifted us one year. I loved the whole process- awkwardly stretching the polyester fabric wedges over the styrofoam ball, figuring out the placements of the sequins and corsage pins. Wish I would have saved those grade school attempts at Holiday High Art!
What could make them even better, I thought later… Quilt fabric!! Why settle for solid backgrounds for the ornaments when one could have the likes of Kaffe Fassett and Amy Butler as a backdrop for all the sparkles and trim!! Bling Balls Fabric Ornament Pattern was born.
The pattern includes templates for covering 5 different standard sizes of styrofoam balls, easily found at your neighborhood craft store and online.
